Lineen unhappy with Parks jeering

Scotland and Glasgow fly-half Dan Parks
Parks came in for some rough treatment from Scottish fans

Scotland coach Sean Lineen hopes not to hear a repeat of the booing that followed two penalty misses from Dan Parks against South Africa.

The Glasgow fly-half came on as a first half blood replacement and made a mess of two kicks during the 14-10 defeat.

"I was disappointed at that kind of response, its not good for the lad's confidence," Lineen told BBC Sport.

"He tries hard every time he pulls on the jersey and I'd like to think the players and public will support him."

Phil Godman also missed two penalty attempts against the Springboks, one from close range right in front the posts.

Main goal-kicker Chris Paterson had to be withdrawn due to a facial injury early in the game and the Edinburgh full-back is a doubt for Saturday's clash with Canada at Pittodrie.

Head coach Frank Hadden will name his team on Tuesday. However, a final decision on Paterson's fitness is not due to be made until Wednesday.

Scotland will also monitor the conditions of winger Thom Evans (bruising), Godman (stitches), Euan Murray (knee), Jason White (neck), Jim Hamilton (ankle), Rory Lamont (shoulder) and Allister Hogg (stitches).

Simon Taylor has resumed training with the squad, having missed the matches against New Zealand and South Africa with a calf strain.

The Stade Francais number eight is added to Saturday's 22, along with Rob Dewey, Max Evans, Mark Robertson, Nikki Walker, Simon Webster, Kelly Brown, Geoff Cross, Alastair Kellock and Alasdair Strokosch.

"Ultimately, it's all about winning," continued Glasgow head coach Lineen. "Everything is going well in training and it's just a question of converting the pressure into points.

"It's important that the players take the good points from the games against New Zealand and South Africa and deliver up in Aberdeen.

"It might have been easier having Canada first up but the players have to be focused and we've got to respect Canada because they pushed Wales close."

Scotland still have a slim chance of retaining their second seed status for next month's World Cup draw but would need a handsome victory and Argentina to win by a healthy margin in Ireland.
