Prop Smith to miss Scotland tour

Craig Smith is considering his international career with Scotland

Edinburgh prop Craig Smith has pulled out of Scotland's tour of Argentina and is considering his future in rugby.

Scotland coach Frank Hadden said the 29-year-old felt he was "not at his best to represent Scotland" after a long, injury-plagued season.

"Hopefully after a break he will be ready to resume full training, as a fully-fit Craig Smith has much to offer the national team," added Hadden.

His replacement is his uncapped Edinburgh team-mate Geoff Cross.

Smith, who has 25 caps for Scotland, has been playing continuously for almost a year, having been a member of the Scotland A squad who played in the Churchill Cup in May last year.

Towards the end of the season, he suffered a string of injuries which ruled him out of the last three games of the Magners League season.
