Allan Jacobsen has won 22 caps for Scotland |
Scotland prop Allan Jacobsen's World Cup is over after he injured a calf muscle in the 56-10 victory over Portugal in St Etienne on Sunday. The Edinburgh forward will be replaced by Gloucester prop Alasdair Dickinson, who turns 24 on Tuesday and has yet to win a Scotland cap.
Scotland coach Frank Hadden paid tribute to Jacobsen.
"It's a disappointment to lose him. He worked incredibly hard over the summer and was in great shape," he said.
Hadden said he had no doubt Dickinson was ready to make the step up, despite his inexperience.
"Ally was also part of our preparation squad so is very much up to speed with what we do, and he has worked assiduously on his development as a player," Hadden told Scotland's website.
Dickinson said: "I'm delighted to be called up, but obviously I feel a bit for 'Chunk' (Jacobsen) because he's a good mate from my days with Edinburgh."
