Lamont is the first ever winger to pick up the award |
Sean Lamont has been named as 'The Famous Grouse Scotland Player of the Season.' The powerful winger, who has been capped 30 times, pipped Scotland team-mates Chris Paterson, Simon Taylor and Kelly Brown to win the poll.
The winner was determined by votes from the media at the end of Scotland's eight games in the 2006/07 season.
"It's a nice surprise and I feel honoured to be recognised in this way," Lamont said.
The 26-year-old Northampton Saints player is the first out-and-out winger to win the award which was launched 11 years ago.
Tara Kildare, sponsorship manager for The Famous Grouse said: "Many congratulations to Sean who has had a great season for Scotland.
"His attacking style has contributed to him being the only wing to ever win The Famous Grouse Player of the Season and only the fourth back to win in the award's history."
