Paterson retains Scots captaincy
Chris Paterson nails his colours to the wall
Chris Paterson captained Scotland in the autumn Tests
Chris Paterson will captain Scotland in this year's Six Nations campaign amid the continued absence of Jason White.

Full-back Paterson took on the role for a second time in November and will retain the armband when Scotland face England at Twickenham on 3 February.

Scotland head coach Frank Hadden said: "Chris did a very good job during the autumn Tests when he stepped up to lead the side.

"Chris is a world-class goal-kicker and has consistently produced the goods."

White suffered a knee injury in the opening Test against Romania in November.

"Jason is currently continuing his rehabilitation programme and we are working closely with his club side, Sale Sharks, to help his return to fitness as soon as possible," said Hadden.

"We are part-funding a trip to a specialist in the United States in March to aid his recovery training and, all being well, Jason will return to lead our World Cup campaign in the autumn."

Paterson, who has 69 caps for his country, skippered Scotland in the 2004 championship and in the November matches against the Pacific Islanders and Australia.

The 28-year-old said: "It's always an honour for me to play for my country and to be asked to captain the side is something I relish."
