Sean Lamont is looking to perform well against Romania |
Scotland winger Sean Lamont says he hopes Saturday's match against Romania will mark "a fresh start" for him after a difficult season. The Northampton star, 24, faded after scoring two tries in a famous victory over France during the last RBS 6 Nations Championship.
"I don't think I've played particularly well since the France game," he said.
"I've not had a massive amount of ball to play with, and getting injured in South Africa was annoying as well."
Lamont added: "But hopefully I can start putting all that behind me on Saturday.
"Last year was a long season, but this is a fresh start. I only got three weeks off this summer, but I'm still feeling refreshed and I'm looking forward to it."

While being forced out of Scotland's team for the second Test against South Africa in June through injury was desperately disappointing for Lamont, it was not the lowest point in his season.
His most difficult moments unfolded in Rome at the end of the Six Nations, when everything he touched seemed to go wrong.
"That game against Italy was probably the worst I ever played in a Scotland shirt," Lamont added.
"It was awful. I tried to force everything and nothing was working and it ended up being a complete nightmare.
"I couldn't stop myself doing these silly little offloads that just weren't on, and the more mistakes I made the worse it got."
Lamont said he expected Romania to give Scotland a tough game on Saturday, adding that they played well against the Scots in their clash in summer 2005.
"They made a good start and they had a strong team which I believe is going to be even stronger this time around because they have access to their French-based players," he said.
"So it could be quite tight early on, although hopefully we will be able to stretch away from them as the game wears on.
"We made a lot of progress last season, and being able to grind out results like we did against France and England is great.
"But we also want to move the ball around a bit more, score a few more tries and make things a bit easier for ourselves. Hopefully we can do that on Saturday."
