Scotland want to host Sevens leg
Fiji's victorious Sevens team
Fiji won the IRB 2006 Sevens tournament
The Scottish Rugby Union hopes to bring one of the legs of the IRB Sevens Series to Murrayfield next year.

"It is up to the IRB to decide where the event goes but our commitment is clear," said SRU chief Gordon McKie.

The deadline for the final submission to the IRB to stage the two-day event is 29 September.

The 2005-2006 tournament, won by Fiji, was played in Dubai, South Africa, New Zealand, the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris and Twickenham.

The 2006-2007 schedule is the same, except for the inclusion of Adelaide instead of Singapore.

Paris is also missing from the list, but the venue for the final round of the tournament has yet to be revealed.
