Well, we came to the tournament to make the quarter-finals and we're there, so we've earned a night's relaxation and enjoyment. If you don't do that, you never wind down.
 | Our barometer for success now has to be beating England |
There was a fair bit of pressure going in against Italy. We knew we'd be deemed failures if we came away with a defeat. In the end we were always in control, though, and I don't think we ever looked like losing.
It was a tough, bruising game, but we always knew that was how they would play - they were always going to go for it up front.
We were as physical as them and a lot of credit goes to our scrum, which was outstanding.
If I'd kicked a few more goals in the second half we would have won even more convincingly. That's disappointing for me as I helped to keep Italy in the game.
Other than that, the only negative to come out of the match was the injury to Duncan Jones.
If his tournament ends here, it will be a massive blow as he has been one of our best players. I know every member of the squad will be devastated for him.
Jones was stretchered off in the first half |
Duncan is a strong character, though, and he'll grow from the experience. He will be ok. We'll enjoy the series of wins we've put together, but it'll soon be time to build up for New Zealand and then the quarter-final.
We've watched some of the All Blacks' games and everyone can see they look formidable, so it's a big ask.
Nobody knows yet whether Steve Hansen will go full strength against New Zealand or whether he'll rest a few players for the quarter-final.
Realistically, it's looking like England in the knock-outs and our barometer for success now has to be beating them. Stranger things have happened in rugby and all the pressure will be on them, we can just go out to enjoy it.
We're at the quarter-finals - now let's go that one step further!
