Report: Samoa 60-13 Uruguay

Samoa assistant coach Michael Jones has warned group rivals England and South Africa his side are not at the World Cup "to make up the numbers."

The All Blacks legend was speaking after Samoa scored 10 tries in an opening 60-13 victory over Uruguay in Perth.

"We definitely believe in ourselves," Jones said. "We are not here to make up the numbers.

"We are here to win as many games as we can, but there is no doubt that we will need to lift our forward game another two or three cogs to compete with England and South Africa."

Head coach John Boe added: "This was our first game since early August, and playing a game is always worth at least 10 training sessions.

"We like to think that we can attack with a bit of flair, and we scored some good tries. Part of our objective here is to excite our public."
