Husselman was Namibia's key man

Namibia coach Dave Waterson has prasied the efforts of his team in their World Cup opening defeat to Argentina.

The African minnows made a spirited start to their campaign but were comprehensively beaten by Argentina 67-14.

However, Waterson, who assisted the 1995 World Cup-winning Springboks, was delighted by the two tries Namibia scored.

Du Preez Grobler crossed in the first half and Hakkies Husselman got on the scoresheet with a deserved second-half effort.

"They showed commitment, a big ticker. You've just got to take your hat off to the boys," he said.

"We are the the last amateur side in the world."

Waterson was particularly impressed by his forwards who came face to face with one of the toughest scrummaging forces in world rugby.

Namibian captain Sean Furter echoed his coach's sentiments, but does not want his team-mates to rest on their laurels after winning plaudits for their performance.

"I'm really proud of the forwards," the number eight said.

"But we're disappointed, things didn't go our way. Unfortunately, when you step into the office of a professional side that's the price you have to pay.

"At the end we didn't keep up the pace and that led to faults. We must go out and work on it."
