Ireland flanker Alan Quinlan's is out of the remainder of the World Cup after sustaining a dislocated shoulder in his team's win over Argentina on Sunday.
The Irish management have called up David Wallace as a replacement.
Quinlan sustained the injury when scoring Ireland's crucial try in the nailbiting win over the Pumas.
He left the field immediately and had the shoulder relocated but he has already been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
The Irish team management have already begun the process of flying Wallace out to Australia.
Wallace is a former Lions tourist and his omission from the original World Cup squad was a surprise.
He is, like Quinlan, a utility loose forward able to play on either the blindside or the openside.
Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan paid tribute to Quinlan's vital contribution to the win over the Pumas.
"It's tough on Alan and we're devastated for him," said O'Sullivan.
"But if you're going to go out of the World Cup then that's the way to do it scoring the try that takes your team into the quarter-finals".
