Serevi injured himself 10 minutes into the Japan game |
Fijian fly-half Waisale Serevi and flanker Alivere Mocelutu have been ruled out of the World Cup because of injury. Serevi came off just 10 minutes into the 41-13 win over Japan on Thursday with a shoulder complaint.
An X-ray later revealed he had suffered a broken collarbone, while Mocelutu is out with a fractured right forearm.
The news is a massive blow ahead of the Fijians' must-win game against Scotland on 1 November.
The Pacific Islanders must beat the Scots to keep alive any hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
There are also doubts over the fitness of scrum-half Sami Rabaka, who broke a small bone in his right hand against the Japanese.
But Rabaka will play if necessary against the Scots.
"This is very disappointing for the whole squad," a team spokesman said.
"The core of the team has been together for a long time and to lose two players like this is disappointing for everyone."
