Fiji captain Alifereti Doviverata made no excuses for his side's 61-18 thrashing at the hands of France in their opening match of the Rugby World Cup. Despite seeing his side claw back France's lead to within six points after the break, Fiji eventually succumbed to the pressure from the flamboyant French backs.

"We started well in the first 30 minutes, but then there was a lapse of concentration in the last 10 minutes (of the first half) in our defensive lines," said Doviverata.
"They punched holes into our lines and scored tries."
The discipline lost by Fiji was highlighted by the yellow card presented to Rupeni Caucaunibuca, who was seen to land a punch in the face of French flanker Olivier Magne's head.
Magne was also yellow carded after his part in the ensuing scuffle.
However, the Fiji captain chose to focus on the brilliant try scored by Caucaunibuca earlier in the match, rather than his dismissal from the field.
"He has been one of the stars lately, it has been one of our strengths getting the balls to the wings. It was a great try."
