Corry back in training
Martin Corry is back in Australia

Martin Corry has resumed England training - just four hours after arriving back at England's World Cup base in Australia.

The Leicester forward, who will line up in England's second-row against Pool C opponents Uruguay on Sunday, was allowed to return home for the birth of his daughter.

And Corry was straight on to the training field on Thursday, as England conducted a two-hour session in 30 degree heat at the Gold Coast Stadium, Carrara.

He had headed to Melbourne Airport immediately after last Sunday's game against Samoa to be with his wife Tara and arrived back at Leicester Infirmary Monday evening.

Later that night, the birth was induced and Eve Alexandra arrived safely the next morning.

I can't thank Clive Woodward enough for all his support

"It was a phenomenal experience, and the whole process was over such a short timescale, that I thought I would miss out," said Corry.

"It's difficult to put into words what it was like after Eve was born. I can't thank Clive Woodward enough for all his support.

"I spoke to him before the Rugby World Cup, and asked if I was selected for the final 30, if he would he consider sending me home for the birth of the baby. Clive told me I had his backing.

"I arrived at six this morning in Brisbane and I was training with the players on the Gold Coast at 10," he added.

"I feel fine, because I've stayed on Australian time over the last few days. Now Eve has been born, and my wife Tara is fine, I am completely focussing my mind on the Uruguay match."

Corry is the second England player to celebrate a new addition to the family during the World Cup. Jason Leonard's third child, Francesca Belle, arrived a few hours earlier on the same day.
