Charreyre said the score did rugby no favours |
Romania coach Bernard Charreyre said his team do not belong at the same level as world champions Australia. Charreyre saw his team hammered 90-8 by the Wallabies in Brisbane on Saturday, with the defending world champions running in 13 tries.
"Scores like that aren't good for the promotion of rugby," said Charreyre.
"You have to consider, Romania is an emerging team, playing against the world champions.
"The Romanians didn't play at the right level, they don't belong at that level."
Captain Romeo Gontineac criticised his team for not fighting harder.
"It's true that we are a bit low tonight, but this is not our real value," he said.
"As from tonight, we are going to concentrate on our next match, we'll play as players, not as spectators.
"We did not fight enough for our game."
