Richard Hill slams 'frustrating' Worcester Warriors

Hill was unhappy with the amount of errors his team made

Worcester Warriors head coach Richard Hill has criticised his team despite the 35-28 win against Nottingham at Sixways on Friday.

Warriors opened up an 18-point gap at one stage but then gave away two soft tries, before Joe Carlisle's last-minute penalty calmed the nerves.

"It's getting very frustrating and that was not a good performance," Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"One or two players played well but overall it was littered with errors.

He added: "It was error strewn on our part - very sloppy with individual errors creeping in.

"We have got to cut it out, gifting them the scores that we did.

We have got to wake up now and realise we are in a hard league

"Credit to Nottingham as they will take advantage, but we gave them three tries."

Nottingham full back Dave Jackson missed two simple kicks before Worcester got going and first half tries by Graham Kitchener, Aleki Lutui and Marcel Garvey put Warriors in control, Steve Hamilton getting the Nottingham try.

Garvey crossed again and then set up Mikes Benjamin as Warriors raced into a 32-14 lead but then gave away simple tries for Dan Hemmingway and Jackson to reduce the deficit to four points.

Carlisle slotted the last minute penalty but Hill was clearly angry about the way his team had performed;

"Each player made five or six really basic errors.

"They are killing us and we have got to wake up now and realise we are in a hard league.

"I think we are still going on that field thinking we can go and put 40 points on teams."

However, Hill did reserve some praise for wing Garvey who has now scored seven tries this season.

"Marcel was on fire. He could have had another try at the end.

"I thought he played very well, looked sharp, and along with Alex Crockett were the pick of the three quarters.

"I thought Alex worked hard and when required in the second half stepped up and made a big difference.

"In the forwards I thought Aleki Lutui and Callum Black were the two outstanding players who worked hard and did very well."
