Duckworth hopes Drahm will stay |
Worcester Warriors fly-half Shane Drahm may not have played his last game at Sixways after all. Owner Cecil Duckworth says the Premiership club have had second thoughts after releasing Drahm to play in Japan. "It is very delicate at the moment but we are optimistic that he may stay with us and he won't be be going anywhere," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester. Drahm has played well since returning from a loan spell with Launceston. He recently told BBC Hereford and Worcester he had enjoyed the end of his career at Sixways: "We have played a more open style, and that suits me." When he announced the move to Japan, Drahm had ben left out of the Warriors team, and had been loaned to Launceston in Division One, but received a surprise recall, and since regaining his place has played some of the best rugby of his career. Director of rugby Mike Ruddock admits he has failed to find a replacement for the number ten shirt. Ruddock has failed to find a new number ten |
"We have missed out on one or two people we have tried to sign, but we have some very good young players here as well, and I am confident they will make the step up to the top flight." Worcester are also believed to have spoken to the Leicester fly half Andy Goode, but the Tigers were not wiling to release Goode who has another year on his contract at Welford Road. Drahm is due to play his last game for Worcester in the European Challenge Cup Final at Gloucester on Sunday 25 May. The game that will be broadcast live on BBC Hereford and Worcester.
