Wood has impressed his director of rugby this season |
Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock has praised the Warriors' younger players. Worcester earned a home tie against Montpellier in the last eight of the European Challenge Cup by hammering Romanians Bucuresti 46-0 on Saturday.
And Ruddock said: "James Collins did well, Tom Wood has excelled all season and Miles Benjamin is getting better and better.
"When they came on Chris Pennell and Callum Black were excellent."
"Matt Mullan, another youngster, did well for his two tries and Will Bowley had a great game too, so it was pleasing all round," he added.
"In fairness to Bucuresti, they didn't want to come over here and lie down - they fronted up against us.
"They have beaten Montauban in the pool stages and are very physical, as we saw in the exchanges around the ruck."
Warriors romped to a seven-try win, with All Black star Rico Gear setting the crowd alight with a 60-yard run to score the opening try.
If Worcester see off Montpellier they are guaranteed a home tie in the semi-finals after finishing as top seeds in the group stages.
