Worcester have signed tight-head prop Shaun Ruwers from Waterloo. The 24-year-old South African-born front rower has agreed a one-year deal with the option of an extension.
Ruwers, who has also played for the Natal Sharks, will provide cover in the front row as Chris Horsman is expected to be away on World Cup duty.
"He (Ruwers) has impressed me not only with his scrummaging skills but also with his ball carrying ability," said new Warriors coach Mike Ruddock.
Ruwers was in line for a move to Bath in December but the transfer fell through after he failed a medical.
"I'm young, hungry and eager to prove I can be an asset to his club," he said. "I'm determined to take this opportunity to prove my ability in the Premiership.
I'm very excited about the move to Warriors and have already been very impressed by Mike Ruddock and his ambitious plans to turn transform the club into a true force in the English game."
