Stephen Ferris has missed the games against Italy and France |
Stephen Ferris has been ruled out of Ireland's Six Nations game against Scotland, and is rated doubtful for the remainder of the campaign. The Ulster flanker is still troubled by a knee injury and will miss the game at Murrayfield next Sunday after undergoing another scan on the problem. Ferris will have a further scan next Friday as he attempts to be fit to face Wales and England in mid-March. Ospreys winger Tommy Bowe looks likely to be fit to face the Scots. Bowe has resumed training and was included in the Ospreys panel for the Magners League game against Treviso. The former Ulster winger missed the opening games of Ireland's Six Nations campaign against Italy and France with a knee problem. Ireland will face Scotland on 27 February, followed by a trip to Wales on 12 March and a home match against England on 19 March. Ospreys head physio Chris Towers said on the club website that the Irish Rugby Football Union and the club were both involved in managing Bowe's injury. "We've been monitoring Tommy very closely over the last month, as well as being in close consultation with the IRFU management regarding his progress. "He has made considerable progress over the last couple of weeks, up to the point where we've been able to get him up to high level functional sessions without any adverse reactions." Munster prop John Hayes was not included in the Irish province's squad for the home clash with Edinburgh but he has resumed training.
