Shoulder injury could delay Ruan Pienaar's Ulster debut

South African Ruan Pienaar has signed a two-year contract with Ulster

South African scrum-half Ruan Pienaar's debut for Ulster could be delayed because of a shoulder injury.

Pienaar injured his AC joint playing for Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup.

He was to join Ulster on 1 September but had been given permission to play in South's Africa's Tri-Nations match against New Zealand three days later.

That ruled him out of Ulster's opening Magners League game against the Ospreys and the injury could further delay his first appearance for the province.

It was reported it could take six weeks for the 26-year-old to return to action.
