South African forward Johann Muller looks ahead to life with Ulster
New Ulster signing Johann Muller says he would jump at the opportunity to continue his international career with South Africa.
The Springboks have relaxed their policy of not selecting players who are with overseas clubs.
"They had their window when they were not picking overseas players but that has changed and there are a couple of them playing," said lock Muller.
"If they phoned me tomorrow I would not think twice about saying yes."
But the 30-year-old former Natal Sharks forward, who has 23 South Africa caps, insisted he is concentrating on the new challenge which awaits him with Ulster.
"I had a wonderful stint with the Boks and really enjoyed it," he added.
"But I have a new challenge which is lying ahead here and that will keep me busy.
"If I do not play for South Africa it is not the end of the world."
Muller said he was relishing the chance to play in the Heineken Cup and Magners League but said Ulster fans should be patient with new signings arriving at Ravenhill.
"The amount of talent here is unbelievable," he said.
"With experienced players coming into the team, hopefully we can pass things on to them and they become world-class players.
"It will take us time to become a team but, come the end of this season or the start of next season, we can become a team which can compete at the highest level."
