Ulster's new CEO Shane Logan is targeting a return to the top of the European game for the Ravenhill team

Ulster's new chief executive Shane Logan believes the team can become the best in the world under his leadership.

"Whatever plan we put together has to deliver Ulster being top of the pile in Ireland, Europe and indeed the world," said Logan on Tuesday.

"We won the European Cup and we want to be up there again."

Logan, who has played rugby and gained experience in a variety of industry sectors over 17 years, said that being Ulster supremo was his "dream job".

He has had a lifelong interest in rugby, having coached in his hometown club of Bangor and played for clubs in three different continents.

Logan also wants to spread the rugby gospel during his time in charge.

"There is a danger that we are just too narrow and isolated into the traditional hotbeds of rugby in Ulster," he added.

"Rugby is a game which must be for everybody. We are across all nine counties and it is my intention that we grow the game in all parts of the community."
