 Tommy Bowe scored eight tries for Ulster last season |
Ireland star Tommy Bowe scooped the Bank of Ireland Ulster Rugby Player of the Year award on Thursday night. The winger, who is moving to the Ospreys next season, earned a recall to the Irish side after a superb series of displays for Ulster. Niall O'Connor was named Young Player of the Year at the awards event in Belfast while the retired David Humphreys was Personality of the Year. James Simpson won the youth player award and Armagh took the club award. The schools player gong went to Jonathan Shiells of Coleraine Inst while Dungannon's David Wishart won the Dorrington B Faulkner Award for services to rugby. Queen's University scrum-half Ian Porter secured the club player of the year award, Latimer Adair was the special merit winner and Ian Whitten secured the Ken Goodall Award for the Outstanding Athlete at the Sport Institute.
