Russell has been left out of South Africa's World Cup squad |
Saracens have signed South Africa winger Brent Russell for next season. The 27-year-old has been granted an early release from his Western Province contract to join the exodus of Springbok players from South Africa.
There is still some paperwork to be completed before the deal is finalised but Sarries boss Alan Gaffney believes Russell will be "a fantastic addition".
"He has the ability to change games in an instant, and has pace to burn which really makes him exciting," he added.

Russell has earned 18 caps for the Springboks since making his debut against Wales in 2002, scoring eight tries, but was omitted from their World Cup squad.
He can play in a number of different positions including full-back, wing and fly-half.
Russell joins the likes of John Smit, De Wet Barry, Gary Botha, Joe van Niekerk, Percy Montgomery and Ashwin Willemse in leaving South Africa for European clubs.
