Cueto has scored 69 tries in 149 league appearances for Sale

Sale winger Mark Cueto will play his 150th league game for the Sharks in Friday's clash with Gloucester.

The 30-year-old England international made his debut in September 2001, scoring a try against Bristol.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: "I'm coming into my 10th season now. It's mad how you rack up so many games.

"In my debut when we beat Bristol, myself, Steve Hanley and Jason Robinson were back three and I remember like it was yesterday."

Cueto, who joined the Sharks from Altrincham Kelsal, is only six tries away from Hanley's club record.

"We used to have a lot of competitions between the wingers and the back three," said Cueto.

"The guy that scored the least number of tries at the end of the season had to take the other boys out for dinner and I never paid.

"The last couple of seasons have been quite slow in terms of scoring tries but hopefully in the next couple of years I'll beat his record."

Cueto's prolific form for Sale earned him international recognition and he scored two tries against Canada on his England debut in November 2004.

Overall he has scored 15 tries in 45 Tests, was part of the England side that lost the 2007 World Cup final to South Africa and played for the British & Irish Lions on the 2005 tour of New Zealand.

Cueto now returns to domestic action after being part of the England squad for the autumn internationals with Sale lying 10th in the Premiership table.

"It's good to get back down to Sale and see the boys and catch up," he said.

"We're only 10th in the league at the minute and that's not where we want to be. There's a big transition going on at the club at the minute and Mike [Brewer, head coach] is a big part of that.

"As a club he's changed a lot of things round that needed to be done and the way the club being run is so much better. It will take some time but we're moving in the right direction."
