Sale Sharks new chief executive Mick Hogan expects them to be competing for silverware within a couple of seasons. Hogan has moved to Edgeley Park from rugby league club Wigan Warriors where he was also chief executive. "Sale is a fantastic club and one which I believe will be again challenging for major honours within a couple of seasons," he told the club website. Hogan has experience of working in both codes of rugby after spells at Gateshead and Newcastle Falcons. Sale were Premiership champions in 2006 but have failed to impress in recent seasons and finished their last campaign narrowly avoiding relegation. Sharks owner Brian Kennedy said: "Mick will bring to the role his experience of running a world renowned rugby league club together with 18 years of commercial experience gained working in both codes. "I am convinced under Mick's leadership we will be able to grow and develop the commercial activities of the club which will help the club deliver its strategy both on and off the pitch." The shake-up will see current chief executive James Jennings remain on the board as a non-executive director working on development of a new stadium. "I am delighted James will continue to provide his experience and skill as a non-executive director concentrating his efforts to fulfil our ambition of developing new stadium facilities," added Kennedy. "James has led the club through a difficult economic period and has been central to the efforts made by Cheshire Sport in helping Stockport County get out of administration and under new stable ownership."
