Jones targets first Sale away win

Sale director of rugby Kingsley Jones has targeted Sunday's trip to Leeds as their best chance to chalk up a first away win of the season.

After beating Leeds 27-3 in the LV Cup last weekend, Sale know that this rematch in the Guinness Premiership is a good chance to make it a double.

"We want to get our first away win of the season," said Jones.

"We want to back up two wins. For them it's a cup final but it is for us too," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We performed reasonably well in our last match and we'll keep building on that.

"We'll make sure we turn up at Leeds for what will be a massive game.

"Let's remember how good they are. They beat Wasps away."

Sale will be without 10 players either through injury or international calls on Saturday.

Of these, the main three absentees are Wales scrum-half Dwayne Peel, due to play against Argentina on Saturday, and injured duo Andrew Sheridan and Andy Tuilagi.

The injuries in rugby union now - not just Sale Sharks but all rugby union - are crazy

England prop Sheridan is expected to be out until the new year, after dislocating his shoulder, while Tuilagi is now out for three months after breaking his arm against Wales on Friday night.

Added to that, Tom Holmes, Selorm Kuaday, Jonny Kennedy, Ed Stobart, Dave Doherty, Chris Bell and Brent Cockbain are all unavailable.

But Jones takes it on the chin and accepts that it is part of the modern game.

"I know it's difficult to understand from the outside," he said. "But when you come into work everyday you see the disruptions that come with modern sport now, particularly rugby union.

"The injuries in rugby union now - not just Sale Sharks but all rugby union - are crazy.

"This is the international period where players go away.

"So it's difficult to evolve and develop when you've got so many new players and players away."
