Rory Lamont missed last year's Six Nations tournament with injury aswell |
Sale back Rory Lamont has says his bad luck with injuries is down to his abrasive style of play. The 26-year-old suffered severe ligament damage during Sharks' 36-6 Heineken Cup victory over Montauban last week. Lamont told BBC Radio Manchester: "I seem to spin through a lot of contact and it puts a lot of force through your body when you're spinning. "I guess I just open my body up for injuries with that style of play." This latest setback follows a series of injuries for Lamont who was forced out of last year's Six Nations competition with a fractured cheekbone, eye socket and jaw. He added: "I think it is probably to do with my style of play. "I am quite a physical player and I have an abrasive style. But that is what makes me the player I am so I'll just have to roll with unfortunately. | 606: DEBATE | "The physical side of the game is what my game is based on so I think if I started trying to change my style then I would probably struggle a little bit." Lamont is expected to be sidelined for up to four months while Scotland start their Six Nations campaign on 8 February. Lamont, brother of fellow Scotland international Sean, will also sit out the remainder of Sale's Heineken Cup pool campaign, and possibly the quarter-finals, if the Sharks progress in the tournament.
