Robinson crossed with just 10 seconds left of his club rugby career |
Jason Robinson said he could not have wished for a better finish to his club career after his last-minute try secured Sale's Premiership status. The cross-code legend, who will remain available for England until the end of their World Cup campaign, went over to grab a 25-23 win for Sale against Bath.
"I was just thinking 'Please Lord, just give me an opportunity'," he said.
"If you were to write a script, not just for this game, but for my career, I couldn't have written it better."
Robinson, who had a trophy-laden rugby league career with Wigan before moving to the 15-man code, led Sale to their maiden Premiership title last year, but the Sharks have had a terrible time this season.

They went into the Bath game still not mathematically certain of avoiding the drop, and Robinson was delighted to put an end to any doubt about the Manchester side's future.
"It's just unbelievable, especially after losing in the last minute last week," he said.
"It's been a tough season for the fans and it's a nice way to end, especially for myself and the boys that are leaving.
"I've got mixed emotions but no regrets and I've enjoyed every minute."
And while Robinson has declared himself available for selection for England at the World Cup, he insists that he will resist the overtures of Sale director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre to return to club rugby.
"I feel honoured and flattered that they keep asking if they can get me somehow to come back," said Robinson.
"It's time for me to finish but I'll still be around the club and maybe there will be a few things I'll do, but I'm not sure."
