Sale fly-half David Blair will be out for up to eight weeks after sustaining a back injury during the game against Gloucester at the weekend. The Scot, younger brother of Edinburgh scrum-half Mike, is the champions' third fly-half casualty of the season.
Charlie Hodgson ruptured a cruciate knee ligament playing for England against South Africa in November and is out for the rest of the season.
And Lee Thomas broke his arm playing against Newcastle last month.
The Welshman had a plate inserted in his forearm and is expected to be out for 12 weeks.
Director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre said: "Our run of bad luck with fly-halves continues with this latest injury.
"David waited patiently for his chance to play in the first team and for him to be injured like this is very sad.
"Hopefully he will make a good recovery and be back in contention before the end of the season."
