Ospreys' injury worries are eased

Ospreys have been boosted with the news that Gareth Owen did not suffer a broken leg as had been feared in their 21-18 win at Glasgow on Friday.

The Wales Under-20 full-back was carried off early at Firhill but an X-ray has confirmed there is no break.

Owen's injury will continue to be monitored, as will the ankle ligament damage suffered by prop Cai Griffiths in the same match.

The injuries spoiled the Ospreys' 100% start to the Magners League season.

Ospreys physio Chris Towers said: "Having left the field with an ankle injury, Gareth attended the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant on Saturday for X-rays, which were clear.

"We will continue to monitor the injury throughout the week, assessing his condition on an ongoing basis, and will review his individual recovery process as necessary.

"In Cai's case, he has suffered ankle ligament damage that will keep him out of action for at least a couple of weeks."

Ospreys and Wales tight-head prop Adam Jones limped off towards the end of an appearance for Bridgend in their 33-19 win over Ebbw Vale, but the injury is not thought to be serious.
