Argentinean Felipe Contepomi helped kick his side to glory as they came away from the Liberty Stadium with a 19-26 victory.

Leinster deserved their victory scoring two first-half tries through Irish wing Shane Horgan and full-back Rob Kearney.

The Ospreys, with the majority of their squad on international duty, looked well short of their best.

And although full-back Gareth Owen did cross in the second-half, 16 points from Contepomi helped secure victory.

606: DEBATE

It was the Ospreys who got the first points of the evening with outside-half Shaun Connor sending over a penalty after only a couple of minutes.

Contepomi responded within a minute to level the scores, but Connor sent over his second penalty of the evening to give the Ospreys the lead.

The early exchanges were scrappy and error ridden and it took a wonderful Contepomi dummy to open up the Ospreys' impressive blitz defence.

He eventually released Horgan on the wing and the Irishman made no mistake to dive over in the corner.

But that bit of class didn't improve the quality of the game and shortly after he missed a penalty for his side.

Brian O'Driscoll soon made his mark though and cut through the Ospreys back-line before releasing Kearney to cross for his side's second-try.

Contepomi added the extras to give Leinster a healthy 9-17 lead, but on the stroke of half-time Connor sent over a drop-goal to reduce the deficit to five.

After the break Connor then missed an opportunity to reduce Leinster's lead even further but they were given a boost when Leinster flanker Keith Gleeson was yellow carded for violent play.

The Ospreys made the most of the one man advantage with Owen bundling over in the corner to level the scores.

Replays showed that Owen was lucky to have been given the try with O'Driscoll clearly holding the ball up above the try-line.

Contepomi then took centre-stage, grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck to help guide his side to victory.

Three penalties in the final 25 minutes knocked the stuffing out of the Ospreys and despite late pressure the failed to get back into the game.

The only consolation was a losing bonus point for the home side.

  • Ospreys coach Lyn Jones:

"We made too many errors to win the game and our kicking strategy didn't put us in the right areas.

"The bonus point is important as it was always a difficult ask for us.

"Full credit to the boys though they plugged away and I don't feel we got what we deserved.

"The young players would have learned a lot from that performance against a star-studded Leinster side."
