Ryan Jones has been blighted by shoulder problems |
Ospreys and Wales number eight Ryan Jones has suffered a set-back in his recovery from shoulder surgery. The 26-year-old is now unlikely to play before the end of 2007 on the advice of the Ospreys medical team.
That could see Jones miss the first four rounds of the Ospreys' Heineken Cup campaign, plus Wales' November international against South Africa.
"It is a huge blow to our Heineken Cup ambitions as Ryan is a big-game player," said Ospreys coach Lyn Jones.

"This is a setback both for Ryan, Wales and Ospreys rugby.
"To lose our captain and one of our most influential players for the first four months of the season is a bolt from the blue.
"But both Ryan and the Ospreys will have to deal with it and look to make the best of what is a bad situation."
Jones was ruled out of Wales' World Cup campaign after injuring his left shoulder towards the end of last season.
The number eight missed most of the 2005/6 season after surgery on the same shoulder.
