Justin Marshall watches another Ospreys pass go down |
Ospreys scrum-half Justin Marshall says they must learn to be more patient in their efforts to play exciting rugby. The Welsh region held on to beat Edinburgh in their Magners League opener on Friday, but their play was marred by handling errors in the wet.
"We were guilty of trying to play too much rugby," said the New Zealander.
"It was too greasy, we played a lot in our own half where we committed those errors - but we are really making an effort to entertain."
Marshall, despite his 81 New Zealand caps, made a series of uncharacteristic handling errors, although he was in good company amongst the Ospreys.
However, the 33-year-old Kiwi - who joined the Ospreys from Leeds this summer - has high hopes for his blossoming half-back partnership with James Hook, 21.
"It's going good," Marshall added. "Obviously we don't know each other very well, so it's going to take a few games for it to really start to click.
"We seem to be finding each other - sometimes anyway!
"But just so long as we're both decisive with what we do then we'll finally get there.
"I think he's a great talent and hopefully he'll be an important member for us this year."
Ospreys now go on the road with a game in Connacht on Friday night.
The Irish province opened their account with a morale-boosting win at Scottish side Border Reivers on the first weekend.
