Mallinder hails Saints LV= Cup win

Northampton Saints winger Bruce Reihana says their LV= Cup win is a mark of their recent improvement.

Saints beat Gloucester 30-24 at Sixways to secure their first domestic cup win since claiming the EDF Energy Trophy back in 2008.

Reihana told BBC Radio Northampton: "We kept giving them chances, but it ended in the result we wanted.

"It's been a huge comeback from First Division. This is one step closer to proving ourselves."

Saints star predicts triple glory

Lock Courtney Lawes, who returned from England camp to feature in the final, says their attitude towards the competition merited success.

"What's the point of being in the Cup unless you aim to win it? It's a brilliant feeling," he said.

"We did the business and we hope we can take that into other competitions. We know we've got what it takes to win."

Prop Soane Tonga'uiha scored a try and was named man of the match in the win and the Tongan says the Saints are now focused on Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup success.

"It's an amazing feeling. At the start of the season, we set ourselves targets, and we've pulled one off. Now it's two to go."
