Saints win too close for comfort

Jim Mallinder
Jim Mallinder's men return to action at home to Toulon on Saturday week

Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder was not completely satisfied with Thursday's 28-24 European Challenge Cup win in Montpellier.

"It may have been thrilling as a game of rugby," he said. "But, as coach, it was a little too nerve-wracking.

"We should have controlled the game a little bit more. It is frustrating to see passes hit the floor."

Northampton now have a nine-day break before their final Challenge Cup Pool Two match at home against Toulon.

Saints have a 100 per cent win record at home this season. And anything but a defeat by more than seven points will secure a home quarter-final.
