Mallinder has not lost a match a in a season as Saints coach |
Northampton Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder has thanked the club's fans after his side completed the double at Twickenham on Saturday. The Saints beat Exeter Chiefs 24-13 in the EDF Trophy Final. Mallinder told BBC Radio Northampton: "They were noisy, you could actually hear them getting behind the side and they have been fantastic all season." The Trophy win follows on from their promotion to the Premiership having won the National League One title. Captain Bruce Reihana, who kicked 14 points, said: "It wasn't the prettiest of games. "We're a bit disappointed with the way we played but at the end of the day we're very happy with our achievement and our goal which was to win at Twickenham and many, many thanks to all the players and coaches involved and obviously our fantastic fanbase - it was just phenomenal out there."
