Businessman Tony Brown relinquished Dragons ownership in 2003
Newport Gwent Dragons have announced the return of businessman Tony Brown to their board of directors.
Brown has remained Newport RFC's benefactor since giving up ownership of the Dragons in 2005.
He owns Rodney Parade, where Newport and the Dragons play, and the club side have an equal 50 per cent share of the region with the Welsh Rugby Union.
The Dragons have also named Celtic Manor chief Dylan Matthews as a consultant for corporate facilities.
Dragons Chairman Martyn Hazell said: "We are delighted that Tony and Dylan have agreed to join us.
"These appointments are not about short-term cash injections or quick fixes, but about bringing credibility and expertise to our board, which will enable the region to build a bright and secure future."
Celtic Manor chief executive Matthews is the son of billionaire Welsh businessman Terry, who successfully brought the 2010 Ryder to Wales.
Rodney Parade is being revamped while on the field the Dragons have won only seven games this season and are widely regarded as the weakest of the Welsh regions, particularly in terms of finance.
They were winless at the Heineken Cup pool stage, lie ninth of 12 Magners League teams, but are top of LV= Cup Pool 2 following Friday's 28-20 win at Sale.
That win was achieved on the day the Dragons announced director of rugby Paul Turner had been suspended pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation.
