Newport Gwent Dragons hooker Steve Jones has signed a new two-year deal with the region.

Jones, 32, joins Hugh Gustafson, Aled Brew, Wayne Evans, Martyn Thomas and Tom Riley who have all recently agreed to stay at Rodney Parade until 2012.

Jones said: "This is an exciting time to be involved with the region.

"We have a strong group of players at Rodney Parade and with a lot of home-grown talent coming through, I'm looking forward to another two years."

Jones played for Uwic and Neath before joining the Dragons at the start of regional rugby.

606: DEBATE

Having represented Wales at students, Wales development XV and Wales A level, the five-times Welsh capped hooker made his senior international debut against Japan in 2001 and went on to feature in Wales' 2007 test squad to tour Australia.

He has been understudy to Dragons skipper Tom Willis, but has also led the side during the New Zealander's injury absences this season.
