Newport Gwent Dragons team manager Jim McCreedy will leave the region at the end of the season. But the 59-year-old former Wales A player says he would still like to be involved with the Dragons' future. "I stand down after five enormously enjoyable seasons as manager, having worked with fabulous players, coaches and staff at Rodney Parade," he said. "I look forward to following the region as it moves into its new stadium and builds on and enhances the squad." | 606: DEBATE |
The Dragons say they will review the role of team manager and bring in a new recruit ahead of next season. "Jim is a true Man of Gwent having played for Newport and Newbridge and steered the Dragons through birth and infancy," said Dragons chief executive Gethin Jenkins. "Jim has the region and the players' interests at heart and, above all, the game of rugby union. "I, for one, have learnt a lot from Jim and as we travel around the various venues have learnt how much he is respected. "I hope we can persuade him to stay on in some capacity and find a suitable role for him as he will be missed."
