Jones won two Wales caps last year |
Newport Gwent Dragons have signed lock Adam Jones from Llanelli Scarlets. The 27-year-old former Wales Under-19 captain has been recruited as a replacement for Wales second row Ian Gough, who has joined the Ospreys.
Swansea-man Jones, who stands at 6ft 7ins and 18st 1lb, won two caps in last year's Six Nations, as a replacement against England and Scotland.
"He's a quality player. I knew him from his time in England with Harlequins and Saracens," said coach Paul Turner.
"He was a young 19-year-old then and it's ironic our paths cross again now eight years later.
"He came through the system, captaining Wales Under 19s, his knowledge of forward play is good, he's a ball carrier and he can run a line-out.
"It was a tough call whether we went overseas for a lock, but we have remained true to our beliefs that we should develop local players."
The Dragons had been linked with two forwards from South Africa and two Russian international forwards.
Jones made 109 appearances for the Scarlets in four season at Stradey Park.
