Rhodri Gomer-Davies joins the Dragons on a two-year deal |
Newport Gwent Dragons have signed Wales Sevens player Rhodri Gomer-Davies on a two-year deal after he was released by Northampton Saints in February. The 24-year-old centre had been with the Guinness Premiership side for three seasons but injuries have limited his first-team chances.
"I have joined the Dragons as they struck me as a very ambitious side," said the Carmarthen-born player.
"I am impressed with the development system they have at the region."
Gomer-Davies is the second Welsh player to join the Dragons from a Guinness Premiership side following the signing of scrum-half Andy Williams from Bath earlier this month.
"A number of friends of mine play here which is another reason for me joining, as was the friendly atmosphere which greeted me," Gomer-Davies added.
Gomer-Davies will link up with the Dragons squad for pre-season training in June.
Dragons coach Paul Turner said: "We welcome another player of Welsh qualification back into Welsh rugby.
"He is a very ambitious and talented player and at just 24 years of age he has a bright future ahead of him and we look forward to him fulfilling his potential with us."
