Charteris has won six caps for Wales |
Wales lock Luke Charteris has signed a new contract extension with Newport Gwent Dragons. The 23-year-old has been with the Dragons since the region's inception in 2003, making 53 appearances.
"There is a good consistency in the coaching team and the potential is here for the side to grow," said Charteris.
Scotland lock or flanker Andrew Hall and academy pair Ashley Smith (centre) and Jamie Corsi (prop) have also signed new deals with the region.
Hall, 27, joined the Rodney Parade outfit from Glasgow in 2005, said: "I have improved since I have been here and with the type of players I have around me and the coaches I can improve again.
"I enjoy my time at the region, particularly playing in the Magners League and it is important for my international aspirations - I still want to play for Scotland - that I compete in this competition."
Smith has been promoted from the academy side this season and has caught the eye in his 14 appearances to date.
"We are trying to build something special here at the Men of Gwent and I am delighted to pledge my future with the region," said 19-year-old Smith, who will captain Wales in this season's Under-20 Six Nations tournament.
Corsi, also 19, is another to impress Dragons coach Paul Turner after forcing his way into the first team this season.
"The quality of the academy members has been plain to see," said Turner.
"They stood out in training in the summer where their fitness results were outstanding."
Kevin Morgan, Jamie Ringer, Adam Black and Rhys Thomas signed contract extensions in December.
Turner is still waiting to hear if Wales internationals Ceri Sweeney, Gareth Cooper and Ian Gough intend to stay after their contracts expire at the end of the season.
