Turner withdraws referee protest

Referee Tim Hayes dishes out a yellow card during the match
Dragons coach Paul Turner has withdrawn his threat to make an official complaint against referee Tim Hayes.

The Rodney Parade boss was unhappy with the official's performance in this month's 22-23 loss to the Scarlets.

But the former outside-half has back tracked after a productive meeting with Welsh referees' boss Robert Yeman.

"Bob is going to look into my concerns, but pointed out we have to bring on young refs in the same way we do with young players," said Turner.

"You send them into a cauldron, they have to sample it to learn."

After the Magners League game, Turner had claimed that his side were on the wrong end of Hayes' decisions and that the official had allowed the Scarlets to transgress at the scrum and breakdown.
