Catterick picked up the injury against Loughborough Students |
England Under-20 fly-half Tom Catterick will miss the IRB Junior World Championship tournament in June after picking up a shoulder injury. The Newcastle Falcons half-back, 19, is awaiting a specialist report to determine whether he needs surgery. Falcons coach Alan Tait said: "It's obviously a massive blow for Tom. "He has been working incredibly hard towards this World Cup and he's got a good head on his shoulders. The next step is to get specialist advice." He continued: "If there's a silver lining from a club point of view it is the fact that the injury has come at the very start of our off-season and he has the time to hopefully recover well. "We'll get the best advice on the medical side of things and see how we go from there."
