Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Steve Bates believes the club are beginning to reap rewards from the abilities of wing Danny Williams.
Williams, 22, has scored four tries in as many games and Bates believes the former league player has adjusted well to the union code.
"We're seeing what Danny's capable of," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"He's settled in, he understands the game more and he feels a lot more confident about what he's doing."
Bates signed former England international Williams from Super League champions Leeds Rhinos in July 2008.
Meanwhile Bates has explained his decision to withdraw fly-half Rory Clegg for Steve Jones at half-time in Sunday's 10-7 defeat of Gloucester at Kingston Park.
The three points could prove precious for the Falcons, who now have a seven-point cushion between themselves and bottom club Bristol.
Bates said it was the nature of the game that meant academy graduate Clegg had to be sacrificed for the good of the team.
"One of Rory's great attributes is as a tactical kicker, but what we needed in the second half was people to threaten, and Tom [May] has been good at that all year," he said.
"We felt that he would give us slightly more of a threat, which would get us going forward, and Rory's shape and game is not best suited to that kind of play.
"It was a decision that we felt would get us our best runners close to the breakdown."
