Jonny Wilkinson kicked 14 points as Newcastle helped themselves to top spot of Pool 3 in the European Challenge Cup after victory away to Brive. The England fly-half kicked four penalties and converted Toby Flood's 36th-minute try in a hard-fought win at the Parc Municipal des Sports.
All 12 of the home side's points came from the boot of Luciano Orquera.
The victory avenged the Falcons' 41-12 defeat to Brive last season and sets them up for a home quarter-final game.
