Newcastle have announced the signing of Border Reivers' 24-year-old back Steve Jones on a two-year deal. Falcons rugby director John Fletcher said: "Steve offers us quality at both fly-half and full-back, as well as a good goalkicking option.
"That will be vital for us during the international windows when we can expect to be without Jonny Wilkinson and Toby Flood for periods of time."
Jones made 17 appearances for the soon to be disbanded Borders.
A former Scotland under-21 international, he returns to Kingston Park after spending three seasons with Falcons' academy.
