Munster moved above Glasgow in the Magners League table with this eight-point win at Thomond Park.

The league champions led 11-10 at the break with Denis Hurley scoring a try for Munster and John Barclay crossing the line for the Scottish outfit.

A Dan Parks penalty briefly put Glasgow ahead but the boot of Ronan O'Gara and a Jean de Villiers try helped the home side to a hard-earned victory.

O'Gara kicked 17 points for Munster and Parks contributed 14 for the visitors.

O'Gara was off-target with an early penalty attempt but Hurley made it 5-0 with a 15th-minute try in the right corner, O'Gara missing the conversion.

A long-range Parks penalty reduced Glasgow's deficit but Graeme Morrison was yellow-carded for obstructing Ian Dowling as he chased a kick in the 31st minute, leaving his side a man short for 10 minutes.

Despite this setback, Barclay avoided Lifeimi Mafi's last-ditch tackle to race over for a breakaway try a minute later and Parks converted to put Glasgow 10-7 ahead.

An O'Gara penalty five minutes before the interval gave his side a slender one-point advantage at half-time.

Parks' second penalty of the game made it 13-11 but two further successful penalties from O'Gara nudged the former Heineken Cup champions in front.

Kevin Tkachuk became the second Glasgow player to be yellow-carded when he was binned for a ruck offence on 63 minutes and O'Gara kicked a further penalty for Munster.

Niall Ronan was then sin-binned for another ruck offence and two penalties from Parks brought his side to within a point but a 74th-minute try from de Villiers ensured the win for Munster, with O'Gara converting.

The South African broke past Max Evans on the 22 and deftly touched down in the corner, under pressure from Morrison and replacement Hefin O'Hare.
